After 50 years of research John Perez, professional gardener, is releasing information that will help private homeowner and lawncare companies worldwide.

50 years ago Mr. Perez sprinkled something from his kitchen onto the lawn and made an astounding discovery. His lawn brightened up immensely. So he kept at it making hundreds of variations of natural fertilizers and insecticides. Testing each and learning as he went.

Today, he released information that companies have offered more than 500,000 for. These companies asked him to sell them rights and keep hush hush about it. Instead, John Perez has done the noble thing and is making this recipe for natural fertilizer and insecticide available to the world. Morales are morales, I suppose.

These products that are taken from your own household work wonders and will soon have your lawn looking very full and bright green in a matter of days. With many cities beginning to outlaw commercial fertilizers there is no better time to start fertilizing and dealing with insects, naturally.

Laying tile is a wonderful talent to have. Tile has so many uses from kitchen countertops to bathroom floors, there are many places in the home that can look better with it. I am unable to show you exactly how to do this through a blog. So…

Heres a great video that will teach you to lay tile at very low cost. Much less than you would spend through trial and error breaking tile after tile.

The videos cover:

How to cut tile around faucets, wall plugs and jams.
Using tile nippers. When and how to use this handy tool.
How to make cuts with a tile saw.
Sizing the joints between the tiles.
Installing Backer Board - Not as easy as it sounds.
Thin Set - How to mix and spread to obtain the perfect Thin Set.
Grouting made easy - Last thing you want is pinholes in the grout.

All of these videos include real life examples of laying floor tile, bathroom shower stall tile and wall tile.

We pruned the taxus bushes into a shapely new form, added 4 perennials and a dozen annuals. We decided not to use any pre-emergents (such as preen) or fertilizer as the soil seemed rich with nutrients.

We removed plastic landscape edging from the entire outline of the beds. Then used a spade to carve a new edge around the project. This gives the bed a sharp, clean cut appearance. This is easy to do just take a spade and angle it at 45 degrees (handle facing toward you) and kick it in toward the bed. To get a clean edge you will take a little lawn and dirt out of commission. Simply break the grass away from the dirt and be sure the grass is removed from the beds, as it will quickly reseed. Grass growing in your landscaping beds is something you don’t want to experience (supposing it hadn’t happened to you already). See the landscape from another angle here

Tune back in..We are almost finished with another handyman project here in Fort Wayne, Indiana!

These beds had not been weeded all year and were quite overgrown with thistle, suckers and more. All of this should have been done in very early Spring just a few weeks after the last snow of winter.

The two taxus bushes are normally pruned clean on the bottom then shaped on the top. This is an unusual but nice look that is similar to the way bonsai trees are shaped. If they are not pruned at least 2 or 3 times a year they become a big hassle to keep up as taxus are not really meant to be pruned this way.

The advantage to this type of pruning is a fuller look. What happens is the bottom part of the bush doesn’t get much sunlight when it is full of greenery and normally thins out over time. Plus, the bush is able to focus its energy on keeping less of it’s overall mass healthy.

I will post more pictures as soon as we are finished with this project tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Most people use manufactured chemical fertilizers to feed their plants. Why? Probably because it’s the easiest and quickest way to get results. Using chemical fertilizers can be counterproductive and create a product that is less than satisfactory.

Other people use organic fertilizers because they understand that organically feeding plants is more natural and affects the taste and quality of their vegetables or flowers. Produce grown with organic fertilizer is much healthier and stays fresh for days longer than factory farmed pulp that most people eat nowadays.

From what I’ve seen most people don’t have compost piles. But every homeowner has the materials to make a compost pile. Grass clippings, weeds, tomato plants after they are harvested and the list goes on. Maybe a compost pile wouldn’t be such a pain in the rear if you can end up with a product.

Rod Turner seriously impressed me. He found a way to make fertilizer from a compost pile. Using this method, the end product of your compost pile is called colloidal humus. The World’s Best Compost.
